Wednesday was class party day for Grade Threes.
Grade 3F and Grade 3R were lucky enough to have a
delicious hot fish and chip lunch thanks to an amazing team of parents led by Janet (Ryan’s mum).
It was a perfect day weather-wise and everyone enjoyed
There were paddlepops too, and then Mrs Febbraro supplied the music for some dancing.
It was a great way to celebrate the end of our year.
On Wednesday November 12th, the Grade 3 children had an incursion as part of our Money, Money, Money unit. Annaliese (Coach Cash)from the Commonwealth Bank StartSmart program visited to teach us about being financially fit. She was hilarious, using different accents and making us laugh!
Some of the things she said were: * Spend some on you, and save some too! * Speed to your needs, and wait for your wants! * Be aware, compare, there’s better prices out there!
We heard about the difference between a credit card and a debit card. With a credit card you are spending the bank’s money. When you borrow money from your bank, you have to pay it back and a little bit more (interest). Using a debit card you are spending your own money. If you have $100 in the bank, you can spend $100. We learned about how EFTpos machines and ATMs communicate with the bank over the internet.
Everyone enjoyed the activity where you had to mime doing different chores to earn money (including cleaning the toilet after dad’s been in there!)
Annaliese also taught us about shopping around, reading the fine print and not being distracted by “Free” offers.
Now we all know a bit more about being smart with money!
